Job Description

Chief People Officer

Albuquerque, New Mexico

JK Executive Strategies is proud to partner with a leading consulting firm in search of a Chief People Officer to join its team! As the Chief People Officer (CPO), you will be part of the Executive Team of an established consulting firm, reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO). In this role, you will lead a team that supports our mission to be a workplace where bright, ambitious people want to stay, grow, and do the best work of their careers. Like the best companies, we operate with intention, treating people right, and focusing on paced growth over a mindset of growth-at-all-costs. We want to build a company that lasts forever, one person at a time.

Leveraging your experience with Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS), you will implement new systems and processes that are built for the long term. These systems will help us to recruit and hire thoughtfully, improve the accuracy consistency of important data that can be analyzed quickly, make wise investments in initiatives that matter most, boost our efficiency, and give our staff a better employee experience. We’ll count on you to question our conventional wisdom and existing practices so that we can do our best to enable our team to flourish at work.

You will have a deep belief that people are the foundation of any enduring business, a sound understanding of HR best practices, keep us in compliance with all employment laws and regulations, and help our calm operations to run smoothly.

Responsibilities

  • Create career pathways and mentor relationships that enable our people to learn and grow as part of our company.
  • Design compensation and benefits that reflect our values and support the lives and families of our employees outside of work.
  • Polish our policies and practices to ensure that we continue to lead when it comes to putting our people first.
  • Maintain our excellent retention to keep top talent that is additive to our culture.
  • Embrace a continuous-improvement process that is built on innovating creatively within capital constraints.
  • Empower front-line managers with a framework for hiring and onboarding, along with the right tools and resources to do well.
  • Devote attention to the metrics that matter, converting the data in our HRIS system into valuable information that we can lead with.
  • Lead organizational development initiatives that strengthen leadership at every level, support internal mobility, and ensure the company is structurally prepared for future growth.
  • Identify and develop internal successors for key roles through succession planning and targeted leadership development programs.
  • Oversee employee relations and risk mitigation strategies with consistency and fairness, creating an environment of psychological safety and accountability.
  • Ensure full compliance with employment regulations while keeping human-centered decision-making at the core of our people strategies.
  • Support our facilities and office administration teams by removing obstacles, solving problems, and making sure they have the resources to keep our offices humming, providing our team a space to collaborate and do great work.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • At least 10 years of progressive HR leadership experience, including the implementation of an HRIS system.
  • Proven track record of successfully negotiating employee benefits, especially medical benefits.
  • Experience building and empowering teams to help other businesses to scale and improve efficiency.
  • Analytical skills that enable you to be data-driven standing on rock-solid logic, while still balancing your head with your heart.

What Success Looks Like

After your first year, we want you to say to your friends and family that you could not imagine working anywhere else. Success here is not about building the biggest team or implementing the most sophisticated system. It’s about creating conditions where bright, talented people can do the best work of their careers.

We’re on a mission to build a business meant to last. Come help us do it right.

Salary Range

  • $140k - $170k + bonus
